World’s Toughest Mudder 2026: The Landmark Ten Adaptives
In 2018, I stood on the start line of World’s Toughest Mudder (WTM) for the first time. I was there to race, but I quickly realised that while the grit was there, the competitive structure for athletes like me wasn’t. I wanted a podium to recognise the efforts of all the other adaptive athletes who joined me. I wanted a fair fight. I wanted adaptive athletes to be recognised as competitors, not just participants.
Since 2016, I’ve spent the better part of a decade building that reality from nothing.
I’ve dedicated ten years to the "boring" but vital side of the sport: managing classifications, drafting rule adjustments, and fighting for competitive opportunities. Because of that work, we now have sanctioned British, European, and World Championship levels for adaptive athletes. We’ve turned a niche interest into a professionalised sport.
But I’ve always had unfinished business with Tough Mudder. Tough Mudder is an incredible challenge for all participants, and they’ve always had inclusion at the heart of their ethos. However, with the integration of competitive opportunities, adaptive athletes have also needed the opportunity to compete on a level playing field.
I’ve moved from being an athlete who just wanted a chance to a competitive athlete who knows exactly what we are capable of. I’ve spent months petitioning WTM to introduce an official, sanctioned adaptive podium to the 24-hour format. They have agreed—but now I need you to help me lock it in.
The Landmark Ten
To make this podium official for the event at Belvoir Castle on the 27th–28th of June 2026, we need to field The Landmark Ten.
This isn’t just a recruitment drive; it’s a call for classifiable athletes. To ensure this podium is legitimate and follows the frameworks I’ve spent ten years establishing, we need ten more athletes on that start line who meet the official classification standards.
By signing up, you aren't just doing a race. You are helping me cement a legacy that ensures the next generation of adaptive racers never have to stand on a start line wondering if they’ll be recognised on the podium.
24 Hours: Your Race, Your Pace
I know the words "24-hour race" can be daunting. But let’s be clear: you don't need to run for 24 hours straight. World's Toughest Mudder is about strategy and endurance. It’s about doing as many laps as you can in that window. If you need to pit for an hour to manage your prosthetic, rest your joints, or just refuel—you do it. If you want to sleep a beautiful 8 hours overnight, you can! This is about supporting the community and giving yourself the chance to see where you sit in a truly competitive field. You provide the effort; I’ll provide the framework.
Once we have our Landmark Ten, I’ll be handling the heavy lifting. I’ll be managing the classification processes and the specific rulebook creation to ensure the competition is fair and transparent. It’s a big piece of work, but it’s the only way to set the standard for the future. This is something that I do for all European and World Championship events.
Why Now?
We are all busy. Between my full-time teaching, my doctorate at Reading, and recovering from major shoulder and bicep surgery, I know that "free time" is a myth. But I also know that if we don't step up now, we miss the chance to define what competition looks like at the biggest brand in OCR.
This is the landmark. This is the moment we bring the standards of the World Championships back to the mud where many of us started.
The Goal: 10 Classifiable Adaptive Athletes.
The Venue: Belvoir Castle, Midlands.
The Date: 27-28 June 2026.

I’ve spent ten years building the platform. Now, I’m looking for the athletes to stand (or sit) on it.
